How to Vote

Attendance Boundary
If you are at least 17 years old and live within Senn's attendance boundary, you can vote in this election. Parents and Guardians can vote too, no matter where they live.
Use the CPS Election Map to verify whether you live within Senn's attendace boundary.
Voting for Local School Council is a little different than regular voting. We'll walk you through the process.

Two ways to Vote
Voters can either vote as Parents or as Community Members. Either way, voters need two forms of ID.

Eight Open Seats
There are eight open seats for the LSC:
Six Parent seats and two Community seats

Five Votes
Every voter can vote for up to five candidates, in any combination of Parent and Community

Voting as a Parent or Guardian
- To vote as a Parent / Guardian a person must be able to prove they are a caretaker of a student at the school.
- Parent / Guardian voters do not need to live within the school's attendance boundary.
- Parent / Guardian voters do not need to prove U.S. citizenship to vote.
Parent / Guardian Identification Requirements
Parent / Guardian voters need two forms of I.D. One I.D. needs to prove guardianship.
Acceptable Proof of Guardianship:
- Student's Report Card
- Student's Birth Certificate naming the voter as a parent
- Court Documents naming the voter as the Legal Guardian
- Ilinois State Board of Education Affidavit of Enrollment and Residency previously filed with the school naming the voter as temporary custodian of the student enrolled in the school
- Letter from a parent or legal guardian previously filed with the school naming the voter as Temporary Custodian of a student enrolled at the school
- Tax Return for the voter identifying the student as a dependant
- Other Legal Documents or Records determined to be reliable by the election judges

Voting as a Community Member
- To vote as a Community Member a person must be able to prove they live within the school's attendance boundary.
- Community Member voters need to be at least 17 years old.
- Community Member voters do not need to prove U.S. citizenship to vote.
Community Member Identification Requirements
Community Member voters need two forms of I.D.
One I.D. needs to prove the voter lives within the attendance boudary.

- MediPlan / Medicaid Card
- IDPA Card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Matricular Consular
- Student I.D.
- Public Library Card
- Other Government Agency I.D.

- Current Utility Bill
- Credit or Debit Card
- Employment I.D.
- Court Documents
- Chicago CityKey Card
Parent and Community Member voters can vote for both Parent and Community candidates.

There are eight open seats that will be filled in the election on Wednesday, March 18th: Six parent seats and two community representative seats. Parent and Community voters can vote for both Parent and Community representatives.
